The Janion building, 1979

A great picture from the BC Archives: a CP Rail locomotive making its way across Store Street in 1979.  I remember this area well as my mother worked nearby at the Victorian newspaper offices on Government and Chatham. The block where Mark’s Work Wearhouse is today (Chatham between Government and Store) was once a railyard. The rails were torn up a few years ago following a lawsuit initiated by a cyclist that had fallen.
