Mayor Alan Lowe on the homeless crisis

Op-Ed in today’s TC from Mayor Lowe is today’s “must read”:

Victoria tackles homelessness but needs more help
Plight of growing legions of homeless can only be addressed at regional level

One year since the release of the task force report, we have made great strides in creating awareness of the magnitude of the problem. Although we are a long way from having everyone housed as everyone should be, in a home and not a park, the public should be aware that many agencies are working hard to meet the targets. It is unfortunate that the Times Colonist continues to criticize the municipality that is being proactive and doing the most on this issue.

Wake up! If you think the responsibility is primarily on the shoulders of the City of Victoria, we will never find a solution to homelessness.
